Sailboat catches fire
A 32-foot Catalina sailboat, which someone was living on, caught fire Sunday morning after a possible propane explosion, RCMP report. The lone occupant managed to dive into the water to escape the fire. The occupant made it to shore but suffered serious burns, police said.
The Coast Guard and Squamish Fire were unable to put out the fire, and as a result, the boat sank, according to report.
The occupant was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital as a result of the injuries sustained. The file remains under investigation.
Dispensary break-in
At 8:20 a.m. Saturday, the Squamish RCMP received a report of a break and enter at Wee Medical, a dispensary on Discovery Way. A rock was used to gain entry to the front door, police said.
Some money from the cash register and marijuana stored in the glass jars for display were taken. Police have seized and looked at surveillance video.

Break and enter at home
Police responded to a theft from a residence on Third Avenue of Friday. They attended the area and located a man matching the description provided by the complainant, according to the RCMP report. The suspect was subsequently arrested for theft and released on bail. The incident remains under investigation.
Theft from auto
As a result of another investigation, a Squamish RCMP member contacted the victim to see if his son was missing a TD debit card. The victim had confirmed his son had left his wallet in the 2003 blue Dodge Caravan parked on Cottonwood Road.
A family member attended the vehicle last Thursday, and it was noted the passenger side door was slightly ajar, police said. Along with the wallet, a yellow satchel with a yellow dancing bear, which contained the bank card, an aquarium card and an undisclosed about of currency were also taken. Suspects have been identified, and the investigation continues.
Theft from truck
The owner of a grey Toyota Tundra truck advised police that someone broke into her vehicle between June 9 and 15. They stole her B.C. driver’s licence and Costco Mastercard, which has since been used in Squamish on numerous occasions, according to RCMP. Video surveillance has been seized and is being viewed.
Mischief under $5,000
The caretaker of an apartment building located on Mamquam Road reported June 14 that two bars were missing from the underground parkade garage gate. It appeared that bold cutters were used sometime overnight, according to RCMP. The bars were not located, and the space is large enough for someone to slip inside to the underground parking lot. Police said there have been no reports of thefts. This file is under investigation.
Vehicles spray-painted
Squamish RCMP responded to three separate mischief files in the area of Glacier View and The Boulevard on June 14. The suspect or suspects spray-painted vehicles as they appeared to walk down the road, police said. The damage consisted of a single black painted line down the driver’s side of each of the vehicles.
Residents in the area are asked to report any suspicious activity to the police in an attempt to identify the suspects. The file is under investigation.
Theft from auto
The owner of a Mitsubishi Outlander reported a vehicle break-in that happened between the evening of June 11 and morning of June 12. The owner noted some of the belongings were randomly taken from the glove box and placed on the passenger seat. The owner assumed his wife had done this. The only item missing was the garage fob, which has since been replaced and a new code implemented.
The point of entry to the vehicle was an unlocked door.
Police remind all residents to remove all valuables from their vehicles and to lock doors.
Generator disappears
A generator was stolen sometime overnight between June 12 and 13. The owner reported the generator was last seen beside his house on Third Avenue. The generator is a new Champion 3000/4000, yellow in colour and worth $500. The serial number is being entered into a database. The file remains under investigation.
