Adoptable pet of the week: Poppy is a lettuce-loving bunny looking for a cosy home

Being litter trained, she is a perfect candidate for a free-roam bunny and happens to be very tidy

Introducing Poppy, a sweet and lovely rex rabbit that came into the shelter in February when her owner could not care for her anymore, and has been stealing the hearts of staff and volunteers ever since.

Poppy has been quite shy in her time in shelter, but has warmed up over the last few weeks, being curious of staff as her enclosure is cleaned and as she is served her favourite veggies: carrot tops, lettuce and basil. She loves to nibble away on her greens and lay out.

Being a prey animal, Poppy would do best in a home that is patient, helps her build trust and will help guide her through the transition from shelter to a new home.

Being litter trained, she is a perfect candidate for a free-roam bunny, and happens to be very tidy.

Poppy was homed with another rabbit before she got to the shelter in West Vancouver, but staff feel she would thrive being the only rabbit in the home. Once she gets comfortable with you, she may be able to bond with another rabbit, but introductions should be slow.

Is Poppy the perfect companion for you? Come down and visit her during adoption hours from Tuesday to Sunday, noon to 3 p.m.
