It was a truly scary situation for a driver going through a fast-food drive-thru on Halloween night.

About 6:45 p.m., Saanich police responded to a carjacking at a McDonald’s on Saanich Road.

Police said a person dressed in all black clothing and wearing a mask opened the door of a Honda Civic just as the driver was leaving the drive-thru.

The person told the driver they had a weapon and demanded the owner get out of the car.

The carjacker got behind the wheel and drove off eastbound on Saanich Road, said police.

The vehicle owner was “shaken up,” but not physically harmed and sought help inside McDonald’s, where someone called police.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Saanich Road and Oak Street at the time of this incident and has dashcam footage or any other information regarding this incident, to email [email protected]

If you see the stolen vehicle, a 2002 black Honda Civic, licence plate number WB2 92P, call 911.
