The local business community is stepping up to help Sea to Sky Gondola employees who may find themselves out of job as a result of its closure.
Tourism Squamish and the Squamish Chamber of Commerce will host a job fair for gondola employees at Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Squamish Adventure Centre.
The gondola remains closed for an indefinite amount of time, as RCMP investigate suspected sabotage.
Investigators said the gondola's main cable was cut in the early hours of Aug. 10.
As one of the Squamish area’s major employers, the effects of its closure have had wide-reaching impacts on gondola staff, weddings, musicians and tour guides.
RCMP have said they won’t be releasing further information for now.
