More information is available on what residents and visitors can expect to see on Spit Road as the Squamish River Watershed Society works in April and May to create culverts to allow fish to move through the training berm.
On April 5, tree clearing around the site will begin.
Work on the culvert replacement is slated to begin mid-April.
The exact timing will be based on the delivery of the concrete box culverts, said Edith Tobe, of the society.
Full road closures should be expected from April 5 to May 15 as the vegetation is cleared, the site is prepared, and the culvert installation is completed.
The Spit will not be available during closures. Signage will alert visitors to the work and closures.
"All works are being undertaken in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Squamish Nation, and with the support and approvals from the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource and Rural Operations and Development and the District of Squamish," Tobe said, adding that she thanks residents for their patience with the project.
"All disturbed areas will be re-vegetated and restored back into functional habitat in the coming months."
The Coastal Restoration Fund, Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program, and Pacific Salmon Foundation fund the project.
