We happily arrived at Porteau Cove with our two-year-old ready for a long-awaited long weekend camping trip. Only there was no reservation. Turned out l booked Porpoise Bay and of course, there were no spots available.
We drove to every camping place we could find — all full. A unhappy husband and now a grumpy toddler. We got to Alice Lake and the ranger turned us away. Desperate, we asked for one final suggestion before heading home in defeat.
Paradise Valley Campsite! What a blessing — and we've been going every year since.
We always camp B.C. Day long weekend so we can experience Canadian and logging culture (l am Australian) during the Loggers Festival which is always fun. Everyone is friendly, the campsite is awesome, the owners are wonderful, and the Farmers Market is great.
If l hadn't made such a silly mistake l doubt Squamish and surrounds would be one of our favourite BC destinations. We love it and book for the following year the day we leave each summer.
