For the first time in 35 years, BIV will recognize two Forty under 40 Award alumni with Lifetime Achievement Awards that celebrate contributions and career successes beyond the age of 40.

Anne Stewart, senior advisor to Tricor Pacific Capital; and Ian Tostenson, president and CEO of the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association, will be recognized at the 35th anniversary gala for Forty under 40 on Feb. 7.

Stewart, who was awarded in 1990—the award program’s inaugural year—is a retired partner of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and has extensive experience advising public and private companies across a broad scope of subject matter expertise. She is a King’s Counsel, a 2017 YWCA Vancouver Women of Distinction Award recipient and was named Best Lawyers' 2016 Vancouver Corporate Governance Practice Lawyer of the Year.

Tostenson, a Forty under 40 recipient in 1991, has spent most of his career growing Cascadia Brands, which owned Calona Vineyards, Sandhill Vineyards, Burrowing Owl Vineyards, Granville Island Brewing, Grady Wine Marketing and Potter Distilling. He is an appointed director to the premier’s Permanent Small Business Roundtable, was the second chair of the BC Wine Institute and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

“We are thrilled to recognize Anne and Ian for their leadership, the impact they have had throughout their careers and their extensive contributions to business, industry and community,” said BIV editor-in-chief Hayley Woodin Hastings. “Highlighting the successes of these two exemplary alumni—both honoured in the early years of this awards program—is a special addition to this year’s Forty under 40 program, and a meaningful way to reflect on 35 years of recognizing B.C. business leadership.”

Started in 1990, BIV’s Forty under 40 Awards have recognized nearly 1,400 business owners, executives and professionals who have achieved remarkable success and shown a dedication to community in the early stages of their careers.

The Forty under 40 Lifetime Achievement Awards, sponsored by MNP, will be awarded alongside the 2024 Forty under 40 Awards program. More information on the gala is available here.
