More than 300 MBA students from 14 universities are converging on Vancouver to take part in the 37th annual National MBA Games - Canada's largest MBA-student competition.

Downtown Vancouver's University Canada West (UCW) is this year's host for the games, which involve MBA students from across Canada competing in academic, athletic and team-spirit events between Jan. 3 and Jan. 5. Team-spirit events highlight team energy, creativity, and school pride, featuring fundraising, team performances, introduction videos, a social media challenge, and a final mystery event.

Ontario's Queen's University launched the competition in 1988. The goal is to foster networking, teamwork and leadership development among future business leaders.

The event combines academic case-study competitions, sporting events and team-building exercises. Teams often raise money for various charities.

The winning school earns the title of MBA Games champion and is given the responsibility of hosting the event the following year, according to UCW, which won last year.

In 2024, UCW became the first university to hold the B.C. and national MBA Games titles simultaneously.

Competing schools include:

  • Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University;
  • Faculté des sciences de l'administration, Université Laval;
  • Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta;
  • McGill Desautels, McGill University;
