It only lasted about one year.

The Hart, a live music and gastropub venue, has closed in Vancouver.

The beat has stopped at The Hart in Gastown.

The pub and live music venue quietly closed earlier this year having spent only a year in the space at 238 Abbott St.

Originally opened as a sibling to the White Hart in Surrey, Vancouver's The Hart specialized in gastropub staples like deep-fried pickles, scotch eggs, and a variety of burgers along with a modest beer and bar menu.

While its closure has not been announced online, its business license with the City of Vancouver has been marked "gone out of business."

Also, The Hart's social media accounts appear to have been deleted, its phone number has been disconnected, and the windows of the storefront have been papered up.

Online reviews for The Hart don't seem to have been posted since the spring, around the restaurant's one-year anniversary.

According to realtor Ken Pappas, the business was sold in May. No information about new owners has been made available.

Prior to housing The Hart, the Abbott Street location was the New Orleans style supper-club the Revel Room, which operated from 2008 until it closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
