The New York Giants now officially have a quarterback under contract on their roster.

The team announced Saturday it re-signed Tommy DeVito, an exclusive rights free agent whose one-year deal is worth $1.03 million.

He has started eight games for the Giants since joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2023 out of Illinois.

Backups Drew Lock and Tim Boyle are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents when the NFL's new league year begins next Wednesday, leaving DeVito alone atop New York's quarterback depth chart — at least for now.

The Giants are expected to target a veteran in free agency, with Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson possibilities.

The Jets announced last month they will move on from the 41-year-old Rodgers, who threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions while starting all 17 games in New York's dismal 5-12 season. Wilson is scheduled to become a free agent after having a career resurgence in his one season in Pittsburgh with 16 TD passes in 11 games while helping lead the Steelers to the playoffs.

The Giants also have the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL draft next month and could be in play for the top two quarterbacks in Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.

The 26-year-old DeVito, a New Jersey native and fan favorite, will provide depth for whomever ends up the starter for the Giants.

DeVito started six games in his first season, filling in for the injured Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor, and became the first undrafted free agent rookie since 1970 to have three consecutive games with a passer rating higher than 100. He started two games last season after the Giants benched and later waived Jones, but an arm injury and later a concussion sent him to the sideline as Lock started five of the final six games.

DeVito has eight touchdown passes and three interceptions in 12 overall games with the Giants.

The Giants also announced Saturday night they re-signed punter Jamie Gillan and tight end Chris Manhertz, who were set to become unrestricted free agents next week.

Gillan, a native of Scotland and nicknamed “The Scottish Hammer,” will enter his fourth season with the Giants after playing his first three NFL seasons with Cleveland. His 41.2-yard career net punting average is the highest in Giants history since it became an official statistic in 1976.

Manhertz had three catches for 30 yards and a TD and also played on special teams in his first season with the Giants. He has previous stints with New Orleans, Carolina, Jacksonville and Denver in his nine-year NFL career.

New York also earlier in the week re-signed long snapper Casey Kreiter and linebacker Tomon Fox.
