PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers added depth to their offensive line on Tuesday, claiming guard Lecitus Smith off waivers from the New England Patriots.
The 26-year-old Smith has played in 18 career games with three starts after being taken in the sixth round of the 2022 draft by Arizona. Smith appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals as a rookie and spent time on the practice squads in Houston and Philadelphia in 2023.
The Patriots claimed him off Green Bay's practice squad last October. He played in eight games for the Patriots, with one start.
Smith figures to be a depth piece along the interior line in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers are retooling their offensive line, with Broderick Thomas expected to move from right tackle to left tackle, with Troy Fautanu taking over at right tackle after missing his entire rookie season a year ago with an injury.
