A new First Nations-themed exhibit is coming to Whistler.

From July 21 to August 25, Maury Young Arts Centre visitors can check out Reconcile This!: a gallery featuring four Indigenous artists named Levi Nelson, James Darin Corbiere, Raven John, and Caden Lane. Together, these artisans explore the profound and nuanced themes surrounding truth and reconciliation as a method of facilitating positive change and activism.

"Reconcile This! is a contemporary look at the stereotypes perpetuated about Indigenous culture and delves into the pain, shame, and guilt left by the scars of residential schools and the systematic extraction of culture and language," said an Arts Centre spokesperson in a press release. "[The exhibit] invites you to join the conversation, encouraging collective reflection to foster a deeper sense of connection and healing in our society."

Locals and visitors alike are invited to an opening reception this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate the new gallery's arrival and interact with the artists themselves. Admission is free. Visit the Arts Whistler website for more information.
