An investigation into a "historic" sexual assault allegation has resulted in a man being charged with a host of child pornography offences.

In a statement, Abbotsford police said their investigation began in March 2023.

Staff Sgt. Kevin Small says police take reports involving sexual offences against youth very seriously.

"This was a months-long investigation involving offences spanning multiple years, which required a large quantity of investigative material to be reviewed and assessed for evidentiary value,” says Small.

On Nov. 30, David Massie Douglas, 62, was arrested and charged.

He was charged with four counts of sexual interference, two counts of making sexually explicit material available to [a] child, two counts of making child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography, one count of invitation to sexual touching and one count of child luring via telecommunication.

"As Mr. Douglas has a pattern of alleged offending that was concerning to the Abbotsford Police Department, our investigators ensured that strict release conditions reflected that concern,” says Small.

Anyone with information or anyone who believes they are a victim of Douglas is asked to contact Abbotsford police at 604-864-4702.
