The BC Coroners Service is investigating the deaths of two people found May 3 on the Sunshine Coast.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the deaths of two people on the Sunshine Coast with assistance from RCMP.

The deceased were discovered at a residence on Field Road in ts'ukw'um (Wilson Creek) on May 3, according to the Sunshine Coast RCMP.

In a May 8 email, Const. Jihan McDougall of the Sunshine Coast RCMP said the deaths are not believed to be suspicious. When asked if there was any risk to public safety, McDougall said, “If there's a public safety issue, we will definitely address it right then and there.”

A media spokesperson for the BC Coroners Service said they are unable to provide more details as the investigation remains open.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by coroners at the end of their investigations, “a process that typically lasts several months,” Ryan Panton, the communications manager for the BC Coroners Service, said via email.
