A man facing charges over fleeing police, assault, driving while prohibited and mischief in Saanich now faces Vancouver weapons, mischief and obstruction charges.

Colton Bradford Seibel, 31, appeared before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Gregory Rideout Jan. 7 and was ordered, with his consent, to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment, some of which may be needed to assess fitness to stand trial.

He is charged with threatening to cause injury or death to a woman in Saanich on Aug. 10. He is also charged with assaulting that woman the same day.

In connection with an incident nine days later, Seibel is charged with again uttering threats against the woman and then for allegedly assaulting her by strangling.

He is also charged with damaging the woman’s dashcam on Nov. 16.

Although he was in custody on a Nov. 17 appearance on those charges, a warrant had been issued for his arrest by Nov. 28, according to court documents.

In court information dated Nov. 15, it is alleged on Oct. 2 Seibel failed to stop for a police officer and was driving while prohibited.

By Jan. 2, another warrant was issued, court documents said.

And, in connection with incidents on Jan. 5, it is alleged he possessed a dangerous weapon, a pair of allegedly stolen garden shears and had damaged a gate.

Seibel remains in custody.
