Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu, 45, of Abbotsford was killed on July 28, 2022.

A husband has been sentenced to life in prison after murdering his wife.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced on July 4 that Inderjit Singh Sandhu was sentenced to life in prison without parole eligibility for 13 years.

On July 28, 2022, just before 5 p.m., Abbotsford police officers responded to an assault in progress at a house in the 2900-block of Eastview Street.

Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu, 45, was found suffering life-threatening injuries and later died.

Inderjit, Kamaljit’s husband, was located on scene and taken into custody in relation to the homicide.

He entered a guilty plea of second-degree murder in Abbotsford Supreme Court on April 19, 2024.

A GoFundMe fundraiser, which has raised more than US$24,000, says Kamaljit leaves behind two children.

"We lost one of the most caring, loving, kind and strong women I have met," writes Sean Kelley. "She was funny, sweet, and went out of her way to make you feel good about yourself and what was going on in your world."

Abbotsford Police Department and the BC Coroners Service worked with IHIT on the investigation.
