Progressive Pride Flag raised over District of Squamish Municipal Hall (VIDEO)

The flag was raised to celebrate and honour the LGBTQ2S+ members in the Squamish community

A Progressive Pride Flag was raised over District of Squamish Municipal Hall by the acting mayor, John French, as Kyle Horvath, president of Pride Squamish, looked on on Aug. 31.

The flag was raised to celebrate and honour the LGBTQ2S+ members in the Squamish community.

With the Progressive Pride Flag,  black and brown bands were added to be inclusive of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Colour (BIPOC) while the white, pink and blue were added to be inclusive of transgender communities.

Pride Squamish is encouraging individuals and businesses to show their pride and allyship from Aug. 31 to Sept. 29th by decorating their homes and businesses with all things rainbow "to show your love, support, and acceptance of LGBTQ2S+ people throughout our community," reads a post from the group on its Facebook page.
