Sometimes a comeback is worth the wait, at least that must have been what the diehard supporters of Streetcar 153 thought.
We can see the used and abused carriage body of Streetcar 153 at what was supposed to be its final home in this photograph ca. 1970. Rediscovered on a farm near Ryder Lake, just north of Chilliwack, Streetcar 153 had spent its retirement years as a bunkhouse, café, and chicken coop.
Purchased by the City of North Vancouver in 1986, 153 spent more than 30 years in storage waiting for its time to shine. At around 114 years old, Streetcar 153 can finally rest, restored and adored, in the lobby of MONOVA: Museum of North Vancouver.
