Photos: Here’s a sneak peek of an upcoming Britannia Mine Museum exhibit

‘100 Years of Mill No. 3’ opens on May 20 at the museum and will stay until November.

The Squamish Chief got a little sneak peek of an upcoming exhibit at the Britannia Mine Museum.

On May 20, the mine celebrates the 100th anniversary of Mill No. 3. As part of the celebration, the mine is hosting “Dig Day” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities for all ages.

The featured exhibit of the day is in the Machine Shop at the museum and is called “100 Years of Mill No. 3.” It will open to the public on May 20 and be available until November.

The exhibit has put together many pieces of the mine’s history in B.C. into a comprehensive and hands-on experience.

“We wanted to pay homage to the Mill’s 100-year history and importance with our ‘Dig Day’ celebratory event and feature exhibit, as well as highlight its technology,” said Laura Minta Holland, the curator of collections and engagement for the museum, in a news release.

There will also be demonstrations from geologists and mineral experts as part of the “Dig Day” event as well as the other opportunities that the museum typically offers.
