The Sea to Sky Gondola is inviting Squamish to experience the first day of summer on a high note.
The Summer Solstice Celebration is taking over the gondola for the entire day on Saturday (June 21) with a day packed with of events for the whole family.
It kicks off with the first-ever trail-running race on the grounds of the gondola when the Skyline Ridge Run occurs at 9 a.m. There are a limited number of spots available for the event in both the 10-kilometre and 21 km distances.
The day continues with several musical acts, arts and crafts presented by Forager’s School of Nature, an adventure photography exhibit showcasing the history of the building of the gondola and award-winning photography by adventurer Paul Bride as published by Red Bull.
Other scheduled events include: guided trail tours, hiking discussions and a tour hosted by the Squamish River Watershed Society. The musical acts include: Cam Salay, Larson Sisters, Will Ross, LOVECoast, Badgerchild and The River and The Road.
The festivities continue into the evening with sunset yoga, fireside chats and late night summer beats with DJ Sheila,which also kicks off the gondola’s sunset music series, scheduled for every Friday night in July and August from 6 to 9 p.m.
