Want to know more about your rights as an employee?

The Squamish Newcomer Services is hosting a free online workshop about employment rights.

The workshop will be on Zoom on Feb. 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with Jonathan Braun, a staff lawyer with the Migrant Workers Centre and acting executive director.

Braun received his law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2015 and has represented clients in front of many administrative bodies including the Employment Standards Branch, Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal and a few others.

“Join us for this workshop where we will address: employment rights for newcomers, a review of the Employment Standards Act and human rights law, [and] rights of individuals facing sexual harassment in the workplace,” reads an email from the Squamish Newcomer Services about the event.

Additionally, Braun “has also assisted clients with a variety of immigration issues and has advocated for improvements to Canada’s immigration laws,” according to his staff bio from the Migrant Workers Centre.

Interested participants can register on a Google Form. For more information, you can contact Squamish Newcomer Services at [email protected]
