Domenico Milia

Sept. 24, 1937 to July 20, 2024

We are heartbroken to announce that Domenico Milia passed away with his family by his side during a full moon on July 20, 2024. Domenico was born in Cerami, Sicily, on Sept. 24, 1937, and immigrated to Canada in 1955 with his uncle Angelo (predeceased) and Maria Milia.

Domenico lived and worked in Invermere, Kaslo, Golden, and Britannia Beach before settling in Squamish, B.C., where he worked at the Britannia Mine and then BC Rail for 30 years before retiring.

Domenico was a proud 4th-degree Knights of Columbus and a founding member of the Garibaldi Italian Club. Domenico was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Vincenzo, and his sister, Rosa (Pasquale).

Domenico was a loving husband, brother, uncle, father and Nonno.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Rita; sister Giuseppina (Orazio); children Enzo (Karell) and Anna (Kevin); and grandchildren Briana, Ryan, Nicole (Alex), Luke, and Kyle.

Domenico valued family, as was evident with the many pasta and pizza nights, karaoke and dance parties, and afternoons making homemade tomato sauce, homemade Italian sausage and, of course, wine. His family & friends will forever cherish the memories and moments shared with him.

Service was held July 26, 2024 at St Joseph's Church of Squamish.
