Mounties will be at Wal-Mart collecting for the food bank from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The RCMP pulled over with lights on is usually not an invitation to engage, but in this case, that is what officers are hoping locals will do.

Mounties, in their red serge, are partnering with Squamish Walmart to help the hungry in town by beefing up donations to The Market (Squamish Food Bank) with the RCMP's annual Cram the Cruiser event.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 39210 Discovery Way, officers and store volunteers will be outside Walmart to collect donations of toys, food, gift cards, and/or money, according to an RCMP news release.

Ideal donations for the food bank include toilet paper, cereal, peanut butter, jam, canned vegetables and fruit, coffee, tea, and healthy snacks, crackers, granola bars, or fruit cups.

“We encourage people to come down to Walmart on Saturday,” said Staff Sgt. Gareth Bradley of Squamish RCMP, in the release. “We’ll be collecting goods on behalf of community with a goal of filling the back of a police truck, and delivering them to Santa’s distribution centre.”
