Amped in the Park is returning to Junction Park and O’Siyam Pavilion in downtown Squamish starting the last Thursday in June.
Squamish Arts announced in a news release that Amped in the Park would return this summer for eight weeks from June 29 to Aug. 17. Each Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Squamish can enjoy a “vibrant hub of live entertainment and community gathering” in downtown.
“This program not only provides a platform for talented musicians but also fosters community engagement and supports the growth of our local arts scene,” said executive director of Squamish Arts, Kat Kunze, in the release.
“Many of the performers will perform on stage to an audience for the first time, creating the opportunity for young artists to grow within their home community."
In past years, Junction Park quickly fills at these Thursday gatherings with locals and tourists alike to support the musicians on stage.
“Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets to create their own cozy spots and make the most of these delightful summer evenings,” reads the release.
For those interested, these eight performances are also an opportunity to learn about performance management. Squamish Arts notes on its website that volunteers can learn about stage management and sound engineering with training and professional equipment.
And, Squamish Arts welcomes all types of performing for the shows, including theatre, poetry, comedy, busking and more.
