Concert pianist Avan Yu's Facebook page is not your average 31-year old Vancouverite's profile. His page is peppered with his performances and media interviews from around the globe.
In his "About" section is listed a general manager and press contact.
And soon there may be photos from Squamish gracing his social media.
Yu will perform the first Howe Sound Performing Arts concert for the 2018-2019 season, on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Yu achieved international recognition when he triumphed at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2012, winning First Prize along with nine special awards.
Following his First Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition, the newspaper West Australian wrote: “There is an ability to probe and reveal the inner depths of whatever he plays which is far more suggestive of the real McCoy than the surface prestidigitation that too often is all that many a young, hotshot piano player aspires to.”
The concert will be start at 7:30 p.m. at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1930 Diamond Rd.
