A Squamish man is home again following a terrifying ordeal Thursday night (July 27). At 10:45 p.m., RCMP received a report that a 19-year-old Caucasian man was forcibly taken while outside a residence on Third Ave. The victim had been targeted by four suspects, according to witnesses.

The victim was assaulted and forced into a vehicle. He was then driven to Vancouver, where he managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle.

The victim made contact with police while in Vancouver and was treated for minor injuries by ambulance attendants. He was later returned to Squamish. The Third Ave. house near the crime's location is not the victim's place of residence, according to RCMP Cpl. Dave Ritchie, adding the house's occupants are not believed to be involved in the incident.

Police are not disclosing the victim's name or the suspected reason for the abduction. An investigation is on going and the victim is co-operating.
