The first 2005 B.C. Healthguide Handbooks arrived in Squamish Thursday (Nov. 10). MLA Joan McIntyre unveiled the books with local pharmacist Jaspaul Kaila.
More than a million books were printed and distributed to pharmacies across the province.
Each health topic in the book was reviewed for the new edition. The book covers more B.C. specific information. The second edition of the handbook includes information on self-care for seniors, natural disasters, disease outbreaks and health topics that focus on older adults.
West Van group speaks up again
The Coalition to Save Eagleridge Bluffs at Horseshoe Bay again called on Premier Gordon Campbell and the Ministry of Transportation to reconsider the plans for upgrading Hwy. 99 in the Eagleridge Bluffs area.
The provincial government is moving ahead with plans to build an overland route but the coalition insists it makes more sense to widen and straighten the existing 2.5km highway from Horseshoe Bay to Pasco Road.
The group argues the straightening and widening will preserve priceless ecosystems, hiking trails and community values while saving taxpayer dollars.
The coalition said its solution will save millions of dollars.
The group had a rally in Horseshoe Bay on Friday (Nov. 4) to draw attention to the cause.
NDP picks federal candidate
When the federal writ falls, Gibsons lawyer Judith Wilson will join the Liberal and Conservative candidates on the campaign trail in the riding of West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country.
Wilson was chosen over challenger Dana Larsen.
She has political experience as a member of the Sunshine Coast School Board. On weekends, she is a soccer Mom to her 14-year-old son.
Bill Forst, president of the NDP riding association, said a strong NDP campaign will be mounted in this riding.
