In the wake of at least four hospitalizations and two deaths involving heroin use, the RCMP reported Tuesday (Feb. 20) that a suspected heroin dealer has been arrested - and has already been released to the community.

It took two back-to-back raids to the suspect's house on the 37000 block of Fourth Ave. to apprehend 46-year-old Mark Donald Wilson. Wilson was taken into custody Saturday (Feb. 17), appeared in court Monday (Feb. 19) and was released on $5,000 bail Tuesday (Feb. 20).

On Feb. 4 at 4:30 a.m., RCMP executed a search warrant at the Fourth Ave. location and discovered quantities of marijuana and rifles. Wilson, the primary resident, was arrested, processed and released on conditions pending a future court appearance, but further investigation led to a second search warrant.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday (Feb. 17), RCMP executed the second warrant and this time faced a barricaded door. Police broke through the barricade and discovered heroin, cocaine, crack, crystal meth and marijuana.

Three individuals were in the house with Wilson, but were deemed to be unconnected to the suspect's illegal activities.

Wilson is scheduled to reappear in court Tuesday (Feb. 27) where he will face charges stemming from the Feb. 17 search of possession of cocaine, crack, heroin, marijuana and crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking, as well as charges stemming from Feb. 4 of marijuana possession and careless storage and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
