Crowds enjoy a previous Brackendale Fall fair.

The Brackendale Fall Fair is back for another year and is tipped to be better than ever.

Returning for its 26th year, vendors, exhibit competitors and animals alike are preparing to put on a show like no other on Sept. 7 in Squamish.

“Of course this year's event will be bigger and better than ever before,” Brackendale Fall Fair president Glenne Campbell told The Squamish Chief.

“We have adjusted to the new normal of huge crowds by offering online advanced ticket sales, and pre-registration for exhibit competition entries.”

The event is held at the Brackendale Farmers Institute Park and has all of the fun activities you’d hope to see at a fall fair.

From tasty food; live music, farm animals and hayrides to the famous zucchini races, there is an activity to peak your interest—whether you’re five years old or 50.

The Fair will also have over 70 vendors with locally grown produce and artisan goods.

Campbell said the Fall Fair is expecting more visitors than last year and anticipates vendors are working hard to get everything ready in time for the big day.

“We have long [vendor] waiting lists each year. It's a lot of work on our end to organise, so you can imagine how much work it is for a vendor to figure out how to operate in such an incredibly unique experience,” she said.

“I believe they are knitting, canning, carving, growing etc. as we speak.”

For first-time visitors wondering what the Fall Fair compares with, Campbell says it is a unique event like no other.

“There is no similar event in the area,” she said.

“For starters, the original fall fair in this area was held in 1921. We have documentation from 1921, 1925, 1936 and more recent.

“We have the anticipation—miss the one fall fair day and you have to wait for another year to go by to attend.

We have the forest, the spirits encourage everyone to bring their best to the day. We have the magic—the memories last a lifetime.”
