Chances Boardwalk Squamish, which has become a staple venue for concerts and community events, is now Chances Squamish and is under the ownership of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd.

The company is known as a market leader in Canadian gaming and owns several other casinos in B.C. including Grand Villa Casino, Starlight Casino, Cascades Casino and Lake City Casinos.

Previously operated by Boardwalk Gaming in partnership with Squamish Nation and B.C. Lottery Corp., the venue officially opened its doors on Feb. 1, 2010, just in time for the Olympics.

Since then Chances Casino has hosted the Rock Bar Rock Star, held several lead-up Squamish Equinox Rock Festival (SERF) concerts, fashion shows, after-parties and poker nights.

It also offers a popular shuttle service that operates until the bar closes and aims to reduce the incidence of drinking and driving.

Chances director of marketing Bianca Peters said she was unaware whether the purchase would change any of the services currently offered and according to Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd. She added that information will be released shortly.
