Along with the heat comes the water restrictions.

The District of Squamish is implementing Stage 2 restrictions, which means that people can use water sprinklers only once per week.

To this effect, each day of the week is assigned to a particular group of neighbourhoods.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday - Valleycliffe, Hospital Hill

Tuesday - Downtown

Wednesday - Dentville, Business Park, North Yards

Thursday - Loggers Lane/ Finch Drive, Quest University

Friday - Garibaldi Highlands

Saturday - Garibaldi Estates

Sunday - Brackendale

Even numbered addresses: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Odd numbered addresses: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Watering with a hand-held container or device with automatic shut-off is allowed on any day between 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.

The District suggests that people buy a reasonably priced timer ($15 to $40 at local hardware stores) to pre-set your sprinkler the night before your designated watering day.

Officials say outdoor water use restrictions are in place to effectively manage the supply and demand of water across the community during the summer months when consumption skyrockets.
