Drunk driver charged

On Nov. 7 at 1:16 a.m., a member on patrol observed a black GMC pick up speeding eastbound on Garibaldi Way, the vehicle was stopped and the 39-year-old male driver showed signs of impairment and blew a "fail" on the roadside screening device. The male was returned to the office and registered two readings well over the legal limit, and will appear in court next month to face a charge of impaired driving.

ATV stolen

On Nov. 8, a resident reported the theft of his ATV from a residence on Depot Road. The Red 1998 Yamaha Grizzly 600 valued at $3,000 was taken from underneath a tarp were it was parked alongside the residence, still under investigation.

Unlicenced driver stalled

On Nov. 7 at 12:23 a.m., a member on patrol stopped a blue Ford F150 pick up on Mamquam Road. The 39-year-old male driver was unable to produce a driver's licence, and was subsequently found to be an unlicenced driver and candidate for a vehicle impound. The male was issued a violation ticket for having no driver's licence and no vehicle insurance, and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for 30 days.

Generator stolen

On Nov. 6, a resident reported the theft of his generator and trailer from a work site on off of Loggers Lane. The Grey Wacker Neuson generator and trailer are valued at $25,000, and are believed to have been stolen overnight. The B.C. Licence on the trailer is UMV58P. The matter is still under investigation.

Bears relocated

Conservation officers captured and relocated two bears from the Whistler area this week to wilderness locations within the Whistler Valley. Both animals were in the area, accessing garbage that was improperly stored or unsecured. A third bear, also accessing unsecured garbage and unsupervised human food, remains at large in the Alpine area.

Illegal anglers charged

On Nov. 4, conservation officers conducted compliance patrols of anglers at Browning Lake. A Squamish resident was charged under the Wildlife Act for an angling related offence. Two anglers, fishing on the Cheakamus River, were issued warnings for angling offences. Nine of 12 anglers checked were complaint with regulation.

Hunters improperly licences

On Nov. 7, conservation officers conducted compliance patrols for hunters in the Sea to Sky Corridor. A Garibaldi Highlands resident was issued a warning under the Wildlife Act for an offence related to improper cancellation of a species licence. Another hunter was issued a warning for a firearm related offence.

FSR use limited

On Nov. 7, conservation officers initiated an investigation into the illegal use of a Forest Service Road by several Squamish residents in the Cat Lake area. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
