The owner of the Squamish Valley Campground lost just about everything — including his house — in the Squamish Valley fire.

“Everything is burned down,” Ali Abolfathi told The Chief. “Everything that can stand on their feet is burned.”

Thankfully, he said, he and his family — a wife and two grown children — are safe.

He said he is deeply thankful for the outpouring of love and support from Squamish, as locals have been bringing him food, clothing and other kinds of support.

The Chief will share more of Abolfathi’s story — and that of others’ — in the coming days.

In the meantime, locals have rallied to donate funds to help Abolfathi rebuild. Details are available on this GoFundMe site.
