The Squamish Public Library is making room on its shelves for new books and that means the Friends of the Library is having a book sale tomorrow (Jan. 14) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday (Jan. 15) from 10 a.m. to noon. You will find a great selection of used, but still precious cookbooks, children's books, biographies, travel books and more. Children's books are priced at five for $1, adult books at $2 per book and some art books at $1 to $5 each.
The Howe Sound Secondary School Dry Grad 2006 fundraiser includes a Beer & Beef on a Bun Nite at the Grizzly Bar & Grill tomorrow (Jan. 14) from 4 to 8 p.m. It will also include a silent auction, 50/50 draw and door prizes. Dr. Margaret Dogterom, owner/operator of Beediverse products, will be the Squamish Gardeners next speaker on Monday (Jan 16) at 7 p.m. at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. Dr. Dogterom will share her expertise on successfully keeping beneficial mason bees for improved pollination and fruit production, adding beauty and activity to our gardens. She will also bring a selection of her products for sale. A $5 admission for non-members gives you a chance to win the door prize.

It is billed as a Photographer's Vision of the Four Seasons and will be presented by Roy Hamaguchi at the Brackendale Art Gallery tomorrow night (Jan. 14) at 8 p.m. Roy's photographs have appeared in magazines and books and on a Canadian postage stamp.
For more than 10 years, former resident Harry Greenwood facilitated the Great Books program for Eldercollege at the Capilano College Squamish Campus. Good news! The program is back and will be led by Professor Richard Grooms. Join the group as they read and discuss the great books of our time. You will be notified of the current book selection upon registration and the cost is $65. The group will meet each Monday starting Jan. 23 to March 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. French Conversation is also being offered at Eldercollege and the instructor will be Judy Vetsch. The annual Squamish Youthfest will be held on March 24 and 25 at the Eagle Eye Theatre. Auditions will be held on Sunday (Jan. 15) from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Sea to Sky Hotel.
