Usually the Halloween event at Brennan Park Recreation Centre is held on Oct. 31, but please note, the Haunted Wild West gathering of ghosts, goblins and a whole bunch of wild characters will be held in the centre tomorrow night (Oct. 29) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be costume judging, prizes, games and of course, a trip through the haunted wild west will be thrilling, to say the least!
Want to experience some more Halloween fun? Plan on taking the family to the West Coast Railway Heritage Park tonight (Oct. 28) or Saturday or Sunday (Oct. 29 and 30) for a ghost train ride on the Hobgoblin Express. There will be two miniature trains running each night from 5:30 p.m. with the last train departing at 8 p.m. and the cost is $4 per person. Be alert as you traverse the tracks, as you never know what ghoulish characters will be haunting the area. There will also be a special maze for the little ones and for the older kids (parents' discretion). Check out the really spooky car and it's contents!
An important day for seniors in our community is the annual Seniors Wellness Fair and it will be held at Brennan Park Recreation Centre on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please note that only people receiving the pneumococcal immunization are required to take their Care Card numbers. Those who are just receiving the flu shots don't need their CC numbers. Also, do remember to wear clothing with short sleeves. With your health and fitness in mind, there will be many displays to visit, prizes to be won and refreshments to enjoy.
The Royal Canadian Legion Diamond Head Branch #70 is hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday (Oct. 30) starting at 8:30 a.m. It's a delicious breakfast and the cost is just $5 per person.

The new Squamish Adventure Centre is holding an Open House this Sunday (Oct. 30) from 2 to 4:30 p.m. There will be entertainment, activities for kids, snacks, prizes and free rain ponchos for the first 200 people.

The gift shop at SGH has a selection of vases, candleholders, night lights and table decorations added to their items for sale.
Barney Bentall is the recording artist who is coming to the Brackendale Art Gallery tomorrow night (Oct. 29) at 8 p.m. Special guests with Bentall will be Leslie Alexander and John Ellis. Tickets at $18 each are available at the BAG and at Mostly Books. On Sunday (Oct. 30) also at 8 p.m., Juno Award winner Jenny Whiteley will perform. Tickets are $15 each at the same outlets.
The Cedar Valley School is holding its 4th annual silent auction on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Cedar Lodge in Paradise Valley. It includes wine, cheese, desserts and entertainment. Tickets at $25 each are available at Carina Gelato.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Squamish Manor (senior's residence) will hold a Christmas Bazaar with a bake and craft sale, raffle and refreshments. It is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 38209 Third Avenue.
After suffering a severe stroke in June, a friend and fellow columnist Kay Wirachowsky succumbed to her illness on Oct. 21 in the West Vancouver Care Centre surrounded by her husband Ed and family members. Along with writing her Over the Hill column in The Chief for over 15 years, Kay was involved with the Tantalus Seniors' Centre, Senior Citizens Squamish Branch #70 and the Hilltop House Support Group. Sincere sympathy is extended to Ed and his family.
