The Squamish Hospice Society is seeking public donations for its proposed facility that will accommodate and comfort those at the end of their lives.
The not-for-profit society has raised more than $1.25 million so far toward its planned four-room Sea to Sky Community Hospice facility destined for Hospital Hill.
Currently, there are no palliative care beds in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
The society’s goal is to raise $2 million in capital for the palliative care facility, which will include living, dining and kitchen areas for families, a quiet room or sacred space and access to gardens.
The project is a partnership between the Squamish Hospice Society and Vancouver Coastal Health.
A community engagement event is planned at Squamish Public Library on Friday (June 16) from 1:30-3.30 p.m. Those interested in the project can learn more about it and offer feedback.
There will also be information on the society’s current programs and advance care planning.
