Henczel named Chamber board president

Jasmine Henczel of Prudential Sussex Realty has been elected president of the Squamish Chamber of Commerce for 2012.

Jasmine Henczel of Prudential Sussex Realty has been elected president of the Squamish Chamber of Commerce for 2012.

Henczel, who served as a vice-president on the 2011 board, was elected to head up the 12-member board at the 2012 board's first meeting on Tuesday (Jan. 17). Patrick Stafford-Smith (first vice president), Gina Ball (second vice president), Mark Stephens (treasurer), Denise Jimmo (secretary) and Sameer Kajani (past president) join Henczel on the 2012 Chamber executive.

Meanwhile, an ex-board member who was expelled as a member of the organization in late 2011 said he has retained legal counsel in the matter. In December, Chamber board members said they expelled the man over his alleged refusal to turn over data from a Chamber economic development survey and because of behaviour alleged to be intimidating to female members of the board. The expelled member has denied the accusations.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the former member whose name is being withheld to prevent further damage to his reputation should the accusations prove false said, I have been advised by my lawyers not to speak publicly about the matter, while I pursue available legal remedies.
