On April 6 at 3:25 p.m., an RCMP member on patrol in the downtown observed a two known males involved in a suspicious activity. One of the males was followed and checked on Sixth Avenue. The 28-year-old was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin in flaps. He was arrested and returned to the detachment. At the time of his arrest the suspect was on conditions from a previous possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking charge, one of those conditions was not to be in possession of drugs. He was released by a Justice of the Peace to face charges of possession of a controlled substance and breach of conditions on April 28 in North Vancouver Provincial Court.
Grow op dismantled
RCMP began an investigation into a suspected marijuana grow operation in July 2009. The investigation was ongoing for several months and evidence was gathered into the suspect residence in the 38000 block of Hemlock Street. On April 4, a search warrant was issued for the residence under the provisions of the controlled drugs and substances act and a search of the property was undertaken.
A large established marijuana grow operation was located inside the residence, and several marijuana plants, several pounds of packaged dry marijuana ready for sale, drug paraphernalia and grow operation apparatus and literature were seized. The 31- and 33-year-old occupants of the house were not home at the time of the execution of the search warrant and the matter remains under investigation to effect an arrest and process on the occupants.

Victim apprehends thief
On March 31 at 4:04 a.m., a vehicle owner parked on Park Crescent phoned to report a male breaking into his vehicle. The owner apprehended the male and held him until police arrived. The 24-year-old male suspect from Squamish was arrested by attending officer and stolen property was located on his person. The male suffered an injury during his detention by the citizen and was treated by B.C. Ambulance and released into police custody. The male will appear in court on May 21 to answer to theft and mischief under $5,000 charges.
Slow driver busted
On April 2 at 10 a.m., a member on patrol observed a male driving a 2007 GMC Yukon travelling below the posted speed limit and acting suspicious. The B.C. licence on the vehicle was checked and it showed that the registered owner was prohibited from driving. The vehicle was stopped and the 20-year-old male driver who was the owner was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Fields break-in foiled
April 4 at 9:42 p.m. an alarm was received from the Fields on Cleveland Avenue indicating a break-in. A large pane of glass in the door was found to be smashed, however entry was not successful. Inside the door was a computer monitor, which is believed to be the targeted item for a theft. Shortly after, a call was received from Domino's Pizza at 10:03 p.m. reporting an intoxicated male being belligerent and combative with staff. A 24-year-old male was arrested and held in custody until sober and released after being issued a violation ticket for being intoxicated. It is not known if the two matters are related at this time.
Inattentive driver charged
On April 5 at 5:03 a.m., police attended a single vehicle collision on Highway 99 north of Commercial Way. A grey 2001 Chevy Malibu had left the roadway at a high speed and went off road to the right, ending up in the ditch. The 18-year-old driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.
