Meet Squamish Hospital's first baby of the year

Squamish's first baby of the year is Zorawar Singh Aujla.

It's a boy! Squamish General Hospital's first baby of the year came into the world at 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing 3.08 kilograms (6.8 pounds). 

Zorawar Singh Aujla is the firstborn child of mom Jaspreet Kaur and dad Sapinder Singh, of Squamish. 

The parents told The Squamish Chief that mom and baby are doing well after the cesarean section delivery. 

They were surprised that they had the celebrated first baby of the year, they said by phone on Jan. 3. 

The couple arrived from Punjab eight months ago.

Asked how they like Squamish so far, the couple said, "Amazing!"
