Motorcyclist hit on 99

A 19-year-old Squamish man was taken to Squamish General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a collision on Monday (June 20) at 7 p.m.

The motorcyclist was southbound on Hwy. 99. A 1992 Subaru wagon was turning left off Misty Heights Road and hit the 2005 black Honda motorcycle. Squamish Fire Rescue attended the accident along with the RCMP.Cpl. Dave Ritchie of Squamish RCMP said the 52-year-old female driver of the car was charged with making an improper left turn.

Commercial trucks recovered

Squamish RCMP recovered two trucks taken from local companies last week.

A grey Elaho Logging Ford F350 Lariat with a crew cab was stolen and then abandoned in the water along the Squamish River training dyke.

Cpl. Ritchie said the vehicle was recovered and is now being examined by experts. A suspect was identified and police are investigating.

Ritchie said he believes the thief or thieves took the vehicle for a joy ride and then simply abandoned it.A black 1995 Western Star tractor and long box trailer owned by Sabre Transport that went missing were located. The tractor was recovered behind the Cliffside Pub in Valleycliffe and the trailer was found in the Business Park.

There was a report the vehicle was spotted traveling on the Duffy Lake Road, but that report was erroneous.

Promotions slated for two local members Jeff Karran was elevated recently from the rank of Constable to Corporal. Karran is replacing Cpl. Rick Lebeuf, who recently transferred out of Squamish.

Const. Jennifer Foulon will also soon be promoted to Corporal.

Foulon's specific duties are not yet defined, said Cpl. Dave Ritchie.

Power lines downed

A large truck hit a utility pole at the corner of Judd and Rae Roads on June 17 at 11:19 a.m.

Firefighter Bob Fulton said lines were severed and Squamish Fire Rescue was called to make sure people were kept at a safe distance until a B.C. Hydro crew arrived.

A few homes were left without power for a short time.

Fulton said there was no fire as a result of the downed lines.
