Nick Pascuzzi has been named principal at Don Ross Secondary School for the 2010-'11 school year, School District 48 officials announced this week.

Pascuzzi, who currently serves as principal at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School, will assume his new duties on Aug. 1, district officials said in a statement issued on Tuesday (June 7). He replaces Christine Perkins, who recently was named principal of Howe Sound Secondary School.

Pascuzzi is well known in local education circles. He attended elementary and secondary school in Squamish. After graduating from university, he taught in both Whistler and Squamish. Before taking over at Garibaldi Highlands, he was principal at Squamish Elementary School.

This fall, Don Ross Secondary will move from hosting programs for Grades 8, 9 and 10 students to one that serves all of the Squamish area's Grade 8 and 9 students in the district's Middle Years Program.

On Thursday (June 9), District 48 officials announced that Gerri Galloway, who currently serves as principal of Spring Creek Elementary School in Whistler, will take over as principal at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary, effective Aug. 1.

Before becoming principal at Spring Creek, Galloway served in a variety of educational, school and district leadership roles during her years as an elementary teacher and vice-principal, officials said.
