Police looking for flasher

A 25 to 30-year-old man who appeared to be intoxicated flashed young people at the Garibaldi 5 Cinemas last Sunday (March 20). Cpl. Dave Ritchie of the RCMP said the incident happened at 8:30 p.m.

Employees confronted the man and the suspect fled from the theatre.

The flasher is described as a Caucasian male standing about metres 1.7 metres (5 foot 6 inches) tall and weighing about 95.25 kilograms (210 pounds).

Ritchie said the witnesses indicated the man had a shaved head and a reddish brown goatee. At the time of the incident the suspect as wearing a blue baseball cap and a blue and white sports style jacket.

Roadblock nets four

A Thursday (March 24) RCMP roadblock on Cleveland Avenue at Bailey Street successfully took four suspected drunk drivers off the road.

Sgt. Colin Worth said four 24-hour suspensions were handed out while the roadblock was in place.

Spring break keeps police busy

Police responded to a complaint of 40 to 50 young people causing a disturbance at Fisherman's Park in Brackendale last weekend. RCMP members dealt with other complaints of young people gathering and causing disturbances in other locations but he added the cold, wet weather kept spring break partiers indoors.

Just after closing time at McDonald's, police were called to a fight Sunday (March 27). Worth said the incident involved a pair of 20-year-old males. Nobody was hurt and no charges were laid.
