If the recent cooler days have left you feeling like you’re not quite ready to let go of summer, we have good news for you—the event of the season is here and ready to heat up your weekend!
The fourth annual Sp’akw’us Feather Shakedown will light up Oceanfront Squamish on Aug. 17 with live music, food vendors and more.
The final event for the Squamish Arts Festival will also be the official opening of Sp’akw’us Feather Park after four years of development works.
"We have been looking forward to this year’s Squamish Arts Festival. It’s going to be a kaleidoscope of talent, creativity, and community spirit,” Matthews West Development’s president, John Matthews said in a news release.
“We can’t wait to see everyone come together to celebrate, support the arts, and join us at the oceanfront."
The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. with a canoe protocol done by Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and live music will begin at 4 p.m.
Music acts include Olin Brix, Bitterly Divine, Welh Tima Kexwusem (Squamish Nation Cultural Dancers), DJ Oshow, Mark Woodyard, SLB B2B Lerma, DJ Kookum and The Funk Hunters.
The Sp’akw’us Feather Shakedown began as a way to thank the community for their patience while Matthews West Developments closed the area to construct the park.
It has since become an annual event which brings thousands of people to Oceanfront Squamish .
The day will be packed with a selection of food trucks and refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
With limited on-site parking, guests are encouraged to pedal over and enjoy complimentary bike parking.
