An early morning fire has been extinguished by Squamish Fire Rescue.

The fire, which started at about 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 14, engulfed an RV parked at Loggers Lane and Vancouver Street.

William Govenlock lives nearby and reported the blaze to 911. He was walking his dog when he spotted the flames.

He said that while he was on the phone with the dispatcher, about five workers from a nearby shop came over and knocked on the doors of neighbouring RVs to get other folks and pets out.

The fire department arrived within about eight minutes, he said.

While he couldn't be 100% sure, there didn't seem to have been anyone home in the trailer that burned, he said.

Once the blaze was out, he could see that the other RVs didn’t appear to have been damaged by the fire.

A spokesperson for the District says "crews have cleared the scene, however a fire watch will remain in place."
