Squamish fireworks permits are available for New Year’s Eve

The District of Squamish has a free, online application for permits for New Year’s celebrations.

Fireworks will be permitted between 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. Applications for firework permits will close at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31.

Fireworks permits are available from the District of Squamish for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The permit has been available since Dec. 22 and is free.

“A copy of the permit will be emailed to you upon completion of the application. Please print and/or save the permit to your mobile device.  A copy of this permit MUST be available for viewing by a member of Squamish Fire Rescue, RCMP or Bylaw Services upon request,” reads the District webpage.

“Consumer fireworks will only be permitted for use on private property.  Any person applying for a permit to discharge consumer fireworks must be at least 19 years of age and obtain written consent of the owner of the property upon which the fireworks display will be located if the person applying for the permit is not the owner,” the webpage continues.

Fireworks will be permitted between 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. Applications for firework permits will close at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31.

A map of the number of permits issued for each neighbourhood will be available from the District at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

The permit is available online and only takes a few minutes to complete, according to the District.
