Here are the media briefs released to media by the Squamish RCMP for the week of Nov. 1 to 7, 2022.
Collision shuts down highway
A head-on collision on the Sea to Sky Highway sent one person to hospital and shut down the road for an hour both ways on Nov. 4.
RCMP say that a pickup truck travelling southbound near Lions Bay crossed the solid yellow line and collided with a pickup going northbound.
A driver was sent to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Wood heist
RCMP say thieves took up to $10,000 worth of stolen lumber from the 39400-block of Government Road sometime over the last week.
Officers say 124 pieces of eight-foot by 2.5” by 7” Douglas fir decking; 16 pieces of eight-foot by 4” by 5” railing caps; and ten pieces of Arabica 3.36” by 19.7” wood panelling were stolen.
Police say the property was in a secured, fenced area, and thieves needed time and a big truck for this theft. The investigation continues.
Car hits cyclist
Police say a car hit a cyclist on Garibaldi Way near Highway 99 on Nov. 2 at around 7 a.m.
Officers say the biker had undisclosed injuries and sought medical treatment. Their bike was also damaged.
RCMP are following up on the case.
Responsible drivers
RCMP are commending drivers for making responsible decisions after officers inspected about 40 cars at a check-stop on Nov. 5.
One person who provided breath samples was within the legal limit.
