Squamish is receiving a total of $330,110 and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) $162,383 as part of the B.C. government's $91 million Strategic Community Investment Fund, government officials announced on Wednesday (July 6).

The money, which comes from the government's Small Community and Regional District Grants and Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing programs, aims to help communities deliver essential services and keep families safe, officials said in a statement.

Regional districts receive public safety funding through another mechanism and aren't eligible for Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing grants. The entire $162,383 the SLRD received this week came through the Regional District Grants program, officials said.
