All three of Glenn's and my children married American's and after being scattered in farther flung places in the world, all are now in their middle years (won't they love me for saying that?)settled along the west coast; this means we get to visit quite often.Of the various portals available, we usually enter the United States at the Peace Arch Border Crossing. At the present time, the Canadian Customs are undergoing a rebuilding of their facilities so for some months now and for some time yet to come, business is taking place in temporary quarters.
When returning recently we were able to see a large depiction of what the new edifices are going to look like. The architect's rendering was remarkably like Squamish's own new Adventure Centre. Now I am one who thinks that Squamish is not being hurt by having a rather controversial/marvelous/classy looking building drawing attention to the existence of a community poised right near the entrance to town. It would seem that other somebodies think that a similar structure is what is needed to welcome visitors to our country!
I am going to miss the wonderful Squamish rock and huge timbered structure that was previously in place at the border and was hoping that some of it at least would still exist when the redo was completed. But more inspection booths to reduce the length of queues at busy times will be greatly appreciated.
