Teen charged for assaulting police

On Sept. 26 at 12:15 a.m., an RCMP member on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically on Diamond Road west of Garibaldi Way. The vehicle was stopped at the 7-11 parking lot. The 18-year-old male driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for drunk driving. The driver resisted arrest and assaulted the police officer and damaged the police vehicle before being arrested while the accused made threats to the officer. The man was arrested and refused a breath test. He was held in custody until he sobered up and was released on a promise to appear. The suspect will appear Nov. 18 to face charges of impaired driving, refusing a breath test, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats, mischief under $5,000 and possession of a marijuana.

Charges for breath test refusal

On Sept. 25 at 2 p.m., a member was performing a road check on Government Road and Queensway and stopped a vehicle. The driver showed signs of impairment and was issued a demand for a roadside test. The 45-year-old female refused to supply a breath sample and will appear in court on Nov. 25 to answer to a charge of refusal.

Businesses non-compliant

On Sept. 22, Conservation Officers (COs) conducted follow up inspections for dangerous wildlife protection orders to several businesses in Squamish and Whistler. As a result of these inspections, a Whistler business was charged with failing to comply with the order.

Wood waste wrongfully burned

On Sept. 25, COs investigated a complaint of wood waste being burned within the District of Squamish. As a result of this investigation, a Squamish business was charged under the Environmental Management Act for introducing waste of a prescribed activity.

Dirt bikers charged

Sept. 26, COs received complaints of dirt bikers riding in Alice Lake provincial park. Officers conducted area patrols and apprehended two males from the Lower Mainland who were subsequently charged with several offences.
