Two people, one of whom is known to police as a "local drug dealer," face drug-related charges after police found them in possession of a variety of drugs when officers stopped a vehicle in which the two were traveling along Squamish Valley Road on the weekend.
On Saturday (June 4) at 2:50 a.m., police received information that a person referred to in a statement as a "local drug dealer" was driving along Squamish Valley Road, possibly with drugs in the vehicle, RCMP Sgt. Eric Rochette said.
Squamish RCMP members located the vehicle and stopped it. A woman, age 26, and a man, 41, both of whom are known to police, were inside the vehicle. Both were arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and a vehicle search incidental to the arrest was initiated.
Police discovered what was thought to be methamphetamine, a Peruvian Torch (a psychedelic drug derived from a cactus that is native to Peru) and a drug suspected to be dried mushrooms, a.k.a. psilocybin.
The suspects were taken to the Squamish RCMP detachment and face charges of possession of a controlled substance. They are set to appear on the charges in North Vancouver Provincial Court.
